Many people wake up and look in the mirror to find
...
The Dreaded Double Chin.
And as they look at this gloopy facial monstrosity,
they ask themselves "Man..how in the heck did that
happen?" Don't you remember when you were a skinny
kid? No one snickered and laughed as you walked by?
You were able to walk with your head held high
because people could respect you?
But now, part of your poor self-image comes from
the fact that you have let yourself go a little.
Perhaps it is stress, or work, or a penchant for
overeating, or maybe even bad genes(!), but here
you are.
And NOW, it's time to do something about it.
So let's start with that double chin..
How did it get there in the first place? Double
chin is attributed principally to one thing:
slackness in the MUSCLES of your neck and lower
jaw. So in order to compensate for this slackness,
start sitting up straight..right now! Fix your
posture and make yourself consciously aware. A good
way is to pull your shoulders back (comfortably)
until the blades are touching each other, and
breathe DIAPHRAGMATICALLY, filling your belly
with air the way you do in your sleep.
-Stand up straight, with your head almost too high,
as if you are looking down your nose at people!
-Stop slouching in your chair and catch yourself
when you do it.
-Rotate your neck and shoulders on a daily basis.
You have muscles there that need exercise!
-Focus on improving your CORE MUSCLES,
abs, obliques, etc. They will give your back the
strength it needs to carry you effortlessly
throughout the day.
- Diet and exercise. That should go without saying.
Your body is finding places to store excess fat, and
those slack neck and jaw muscles are fitting just
fine!
Now sometimes, double chin can appear in people
whose posture is bad because of flat feet or a
spinal issue. Try walking on the edges of
your soles to help your posture.
REMEMBER: Please consult a physician before
putting yourself at risk.
